"Penelitian ini membahas proses upaya preservasi digital pada aplikasi e-book marketplace. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi proses preservasi koleksi digital yang dilakukan pada perpustakaan digital, ancaman dan resiko yang dapat mempengaruhi keberadaan koleksi digital serta tantangan dan kendala yang dihadapi dalam melakukan upaya preservasi digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan ancaman dan resiko yang dapat mempengaruhi keberadaan koleksi digital, seperti: 1) Ancaman dan resiko terkait virus, worm, peretasan atau manipulasi sistem; 2) Ancaman dan resiko terkait pembajakan: 3) Ancaman dan resiko terkait keusangan teknologi baik hardware maupun software. Dan 4) Ancaman dan resiko terkait kegagalan akses yang tidak terpengaruh oleh browser pengguna atau ISP (Internet Service Provider) (tidak disengaja). Dalam meminialisir dari ancaman dan resiko tersebut, “ibuk” telah melakukan upaya preservasi digital yaitu melakukan penentuan media penyimpanan dan juga emulasi (emulation). Dalam menerapkan preservasi digital ibuk juga dihadapi oleh tantangan dan kendala, seperti pendanaan dan perkembangan teknologi. Walaupun ibuk sudah melakukan upaya preservasi digital namun, ibuk tidak memiliki kebijakan terkait preservasi digital.

This study discusses the process of digital preservation efforts in the e-book marketplace application. The purpose of this study is to identify the process of preservation of digital collections carried out in digital libraries, threats and risks that can affect the existence of digital collections as well as challenges and obstacles encountered in carrying out digital preservation efforts. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection is done by means of observation and interviews. The results showed that threats and risks were found that could affect the existence of digital collections, such as: 1) Threats and risks related to viruses, worms, hacking or system manipulation; 2) Threats and risks related to piracy: 3) Threats and risks related to obsolescence of technology both hardware and software. And 4) Threats and risks related to access failures that are not affected by the user's browser or ISP (Internet Service Provider) (unintentional). In minimizing these threats and risks, "ibuk" has made digital preservation efforts, namely determining the storage media and emulation. In implementing digital preservation, ibuk also faces challenges and obstacles, such as: Funding and technological development. Even though they have made digital preservation efforts, they do not have policies regarding digital preservation."

Preservasi digital yang dilakukan adalah untuk mempertahankan nilai historis dan untuk menyediakan akses dalam jangka waktu yang lama ketika foto dibutuhkan sewaktu-waktu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan dan memahami proses serta komponen dari preservasi digital yang dilakukan serta membandingkannya dengan teori yang sudah ada. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang menggunakaan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menjabarkan kegiatan preservasi digital koleksi foto di Pusat Informasi Kompas yang mencakup proses preservasi fisik yang dilakukan, proses digitalisasi, pengolahan foto hasil digitalisasi yang meliputi berbagai komponen di dalamnya seperti format gambar, hak cipta, metadata, dan terakhir adalah preservasi digital.

ABSTRAKThis research discusses the digital preservation performed on a collection of photographs on Kompas Information Center. Digital preservation covers activities to maintain the historical value and to extend the availability when a photo is needed. The purpose of this research was to describe and comprehend the process of digital preservation on Kompas Information Center, which then compared with its theories. This research uses qualitative aproach using case study methods. The results of this research describe activites that are done by Kompas Information Center to preserve its photo collection including the processes of physical preservation, digitizing process which include various components such as the format of digital image, copyright, metadata, and digital preservation process."

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perpustakaan Universitas Gunadarma telah melakukan kegiatan preservasi digital untuk Layanan E-Paper melalui kebijakan pelestarian, strategi pelestarian, hak cipta dan perjanjian, kebijakan konten, dan pelestarian keberlanjutan.ABSTRACTOne of the functions of a college library is to store its collections. ABSTRACTThe focus of this study is digital preservation uponold manuscript and oldbooks collection at Ruang Naskah in the Library of Universitas Indonesia.Problems studied by the researcher as well as the execution of digitalpreservation, obstacles and the solutions to overcome them, also the utilization ofthe collection. This is a qualitative research with a case study approach, thesubjects in this research are librarians affiliated with Ruang Naskah andinformations are gathered from observation and interviews. The outcome of thisresearch is that digital preservation strategies used for the collection in RuangNaskah are technology preservation, refreshing strategy and migration, thesestrategies are modestly used because obstacles like policies, funding, shortage ofstaff and the certainty of the collection ownership rises. Though with all thedifficulties, utilization of collection in Ruang Naskah is still effectively done byUI students, scholars, researchers and people in general."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas mengenai proses preservasi digital khasanah video Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi proses preservasi digital khasanah video ANRI. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berupa penjelasan mendalam dengan metode studi kasus. Studi kasus yang diambil adalah Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia ANRI . Penelitian ini dilakukan di tiga Subdirektorat terkait, yaitu Subdirektorat Reproduksi dan Digitalisasi, Subdirektorat Penyimpanan, dan Subdirektorat Layanan Arsip disebabkan karena proses preservasi digital video yang dilakukan tidak berhenti hanya di satu unit dari ketiga unit terkait. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi secara langsung, wawancara dengan beberapa informan terkait dari ketiga Subdirektorat, dan yang terakhir analisis dokumen. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses digitalisasi dan alihmedia merupakan bentuk tindakan preservasi preventif yang dilakukan oleh ANRI dalam mencegah dan memperlambat adanya kerusakan terhadap arsip khususnya arsip video. Proses digitalisasi tersebut dapat dilakukan dalam dua cara, yaitu proses digitalisasi analog dan proses digitalisasi dengan menggunakan IT. Hingga saat ini, kedua cara tersebut masih tetap digunakan. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh keterbatasan players yang ada.

ABSTRACTThis thesis discusses the process of digital preservation video archive of the Republic of Indonesia National Archives ANRI . The purpose of this research is to know and identify digital preservation process of ANRI video archive. This study uses a qualititative approach in the form of an in depth explanation with case study methods. The case study taken is the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia ANRI . This research was conducted in three related subdirectorates, namely Subdirectorate of Reproduction and Digitalization, Subdirectorate of Storage, and Subdirectorate of Archive Services because the process of digital video preservation performed did not stop only in one unit of the three related units. Data collection techniques in this study are direct observation, interviews with several related informants from the three Sub directorates, and the last document analysis. The results of this study indicate that the process of digitization and the media is a form of preventive preservation action conducted by ANRI in preventing and slowing the damage to the archive, especially the video archive. The process of digitization can be done in two ways, namely the process of analog digitalization and the process of digitizing by using IT. Until now, both ways are still in use. This is due to the limitations of existing players."
